Credit Union of the Berkshires Awards 2 Scholarships
Credit Union of the Berkshires recently presented two $1,000.00 scholarships to local high school graduates in recognition of their academic achievement, community service and leadership. Recipients were Makayla Lemaire from Drury High School and Michaela Powers of Wahconah Regional High School.

Lemaire is the daughter of David and Bobbie Jo Lemaire of 100 West Street, North Adams. She intends to continue her education at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts pursuing a degree in Early Education.

While at Drury she was a member of the Pro Merito Honor Society and senior class secretary and dance team captain. Lemaire completed an internship at Greylock Elementary School and was a 4th grade campout counselor. She was also active in many community activities and school organizations.

Powers is the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Powers at 38 Raymond Drive, Dalton. She intends to study corporate finance and accounting at Bentley College.

At Wahconah Regional High School she was a member of the National Honor Society. Powers was chairperson of the prom committee and a member of the peer mediation team, the senior assembly and the Darfur service learning project.
